KEVIN HARVICK FINISHES LAST AFTER SLAMMING THE WALL

CONCORD, N.C. — Kevin Harvick was eliminated from the Coca-Cola 600 after losing his left front tire and hitting the Turn 4 wall on Lap 84.

Goodyear said the tire had a small puncture in it.

Harvick, who had started from the rear after failing qualifying inspection three times, had made it up to the top five when the incident occurred.

The Stewart-Haas Racing driver was seeking his sixth points win of the year and a third consecutive win for the second time this season.

“It never gave me any warning,” Harvick told Fox. “I was going to try to run the middle to high lane right there and just the tire went down and went up into the wall. Just proud of my guys, we had a lot of issues this weekend.”

It is his second DNF of the year. His first was in the Daytona 500.

It is also Harvick’s first DNF in the Coke 600.

Harvick’s incident caused the second caution of the race.
